Weekly update, part 2: quilt show from With Strings Attached

 

 

The Fine Art of Fiber is an annual collaboration of Illinois Quilters, Inc., North Suburban Needlearts Guild, and the Weaver's Guild of the North Shore.  It's held at the Chicago Botanic Garden the first Thursday through Saturday of November.  






A couple of years ago I saw my librarian friend Elisa at the show. This time I emailed her and we arranged to meet up.  She's not a quilter but she appreciates quilting and she likes to shop at the boutique.  We had lunch in the Garden cafe, too.

Weekly update: quilt show from With Strings Attached




We went to the Chicago Botanic Garden Sunday morning to see  the  Fine Art of Fiber.  It's an annual collaboration of Illinois Quilters, Inc., North Suburban Needlearts Guild, and the Weaver's Guild of the North Shore.  

I have artists' statements for most of these if you'd like to know more.  




The theme for this year's Explorations in Fiber was "Inspiration."  Here are some of the selections. 



We went into one of the greenhouses.  Upper right:  cacao pods.

Outside:  roses are still in bloom.

Weekly update, part 1: another quilt show! from With Strings Attached

The Fine Art of Fiber is an annual collaboration among Illinois Quilters Inc., North Suburban Weavers Guild, and the North Suburban Needle Arts Guild. It is held the first weekend of November at the Chicago Botanic Garden. I went on Friday morning.


Bur first, the fine art of friendship! A quick FB exchange with Erica P., a fellow Quiltville fan, led to a meetup. As she and I were talking someone said my name. It was library colleague Elisa T. Later I saw Mary H., an Alpha Gam sister. And then Barb G. from AAUW.
